How to Start a Startup: Startup 101 at Curtin

As an entrepreneur, you probably have a lot of ideas you want to explore.
But if you want to explore one of these further, where do you start?

The Lean Canvas is considered one of the most efficient starting points for many entrepreneurs when embarking upon a new startup venture, as the first hurdle for many budding entrepreneurs is knowing how, where and what tools to use in order to start.

This entrepreneur-focused tool created by Ash Maurya is a one-page and easy-to-understand model navigating you through the entire process – from identifying the problem you seek to solve, to identifying target customers, revenue streams and cost structure, in a fast and concise manner.

On the 20th of September 2017, Bloom Curtin facilitated a workshop – “Startup 101”, where students were introduced to the Lean Canvas. The Startup 101 workshop is a monthly session specifically geared toward attracting individuals at the earliest conception of their idea, introducing them to the Bloom community and providing some preliminary guidance.

The event was curated by Thuushal Prem Kumar, our Bloom Curtin President. The workshop allowed students to create a tangible plan from their ideas and enjoy the start of their journey with the comfort of knowing that they are joined by similarly minded peers, creating a stimulating and synergising atmosphere.

Startup 101 workshops are monthly so if you have an idea to test or want to network with similarly minded individuals, there will be plenty more opportunities in the near future. We keep things interesting with a variety of diverse speakers from multiple backgrounds, and we think entrepreneurs, no matter their level of experience, can get a lot out of them.

Keep an eye out on our Facebook page for the next Startup 101 workshop.
